Alpine will soon release a trio of new head-end units for vehicles geared primarily around the iPod, the company has unintentionally revealed through a brochure posted online.

The iDA-X100, based on the earlier X001, will be one of the first car stereos to support iTunes Tagging. When listening to specific HD Radio stations through the X100, listeners will be able to flag songs and use an attached iPod to sync this information with a computer, creating a playlist of songs to be bought through the iTunes Store. It can also play audio directly from newer iPods through a USB connection, including the iPod touch.

The single-slot unit also plays some more generic music handhelds and will recognize AAC, MP3, and WMA tracks from most any USB storage device. An optional IMPRINT processor dynamically adjusts sound to fit the acoustics of the car and can also be supported by adapters for satellite radio and Bluetooth audio from cellphones. It should be available by this spring and will be supported by the lower-cost X200, which omits iTunes Tagging, and the X300, which shares the same features but reduces the number of pre-amp outputs from three to one.

The listing also makes reference to a double-slot, 7-inch touchscreen stereo system known so far as the IVA-W505; though few details are revealed, the unit will play video from supporting iPods as well as raw DivX videos

The new Toyota A-BAT Concept is no less compact then a fully loaded swiss army knife. It has every needed accessory you could think of; Toyota has already planned & tucked away neatly into the various compartments, nooks & crannies of this eco friendly beast. It has GPS navigation, Wifi, the usual. I actually think we should make a list of what this car doesn’t have, like a toaster a bathroom, toilet seat, & a bed. That it has then a microwave a fridge, oops again that it has in the form of a chiller.

This car has the ability to transform itself from a truck to a 4×4 & then to a car in a heartbeat then morph into a comfortable bedroom with most amenities you’d need in bed minus the bathroom of course. The A-BAT’s unique aerodynamic exterior was crafted by Calty Project Chief Designer Ian Cartabiano and Creative Designer Matt Sperling. They integrated Toyota’s design philosophy, “Vibrant Clarity” into the exterior by keeping the design forward-looking, crisp and functional.toyota_a-bat_6-thumb-450×298.jpg

2007_rolls-royce_phantom_1-thumb-450×337.jpg

Business at Goodwood is, well… good. As such, Rolls-Royce, already having dedicated millions of dollars to enhancing its production facilities, is looking to add more hands in a bid to keep up with the ever-growing demand for its cars. Production in 2007 was up 25% over 2006 to 1,000 units, and RR execs see another 10% of growth likely for 2008. Credit emerging markets for the increase in demand, especially China, in which 100 cars are expected to be sold by year’s end. That’s up from 71 of the mega-sleds sold there in 2006. Where people are coming into money, they’re buying Rolls-Royces. After all, as status symbols go, the Spirit of Ecstasy is almost without peer, and few luxury objects communicate wealth like a big new Roller. The Phantom (saloon or drophead, take your pick) might well be the ultimate arrival machine. Things are going so well, in fact, that the automaker is basically sold-out through 2009. Better get that second production line going soon, guys.
